Witness to a Phenomenon and a Song

I write here because You have asked me to write Sreyoshi. Or else I would just enjoy being a mere Witness to the phenomenon – KS. Being a witness or “Droshta” is a way of life. A stance which perhaps celebrates detachment. And yet the Witness remains rooted to the spot for the entire period of the enactment. More Attached than the actors.
Being a witness to the first solo performance of that phenomenon was quite an experience. Sparkling brilliance, non negotiable philanthropist, personification of courage, the heady cocktail of a youthful spirit and wisdom of old age. A prophet. Nothing less.
However the song “Khodar Kasam Jaan….” Created havoc internally. To me it is a the life saga of a human being , who has never bowed down to the powers of society. And yet is powerless in the hands of TIME. The utter vulnerability of a human being standing before the universal law of irreversibility of TIME. The despair of having realized that life has been a series of mistakes, foolish investments.
And yet, the celebration of life and the capacity to LOVE. Despite everything. This is what takes THE MAN, the ordinary mortal to an entirely different realm. That after acknowledging “ britha din gelo”, He can still say ‘ Ami Bhalobeshechi tomay” transcends him to beat the Greater Powers of Time and its effect on the mind. That is the way he carries on his “ Bidhatar shathe shaap ludo khela”. The song is a manifestation of the Supreme power of Love and the beings innate claim to supremacy over the certainty of impending Death.

What I will write now will probably land me in the asylum. But YOU will have to believe that I am truly ignorant of the works of KS. Nevertheless I am a good learner. Give me some time.

It was very interesting reading your excerpts from the songs which answers my question " Keno BNacha?" What is the search? And what is the nature of the search. Ei " Tumi" ta ke ba ki? Jar jonya bar bar phire asha.

If I just take the two songs Jatiswar and Khodar Kasam Jaan I can offer a hypothesis. Please remember it is just a hypothesis.

Both the material Nature (Prakriti) and the Spiritual Being (Purush) are beginningless.(Ageo morechi abar morbo premer dibbi diye) Prakriti is said to be the cause of production of the physical body and the eleven organs (of perception and action). Purush (Consciousness, Spirit) is said to be the cause of experiencing pleasure and pain.( And so the line goes Dukha peyecho jotobar jeno amay peyecho tumi). It is by the association of Purush and Prakriti that the Purush acquires Gunas which bring him into the cycle of rebirths.
The Purush is in search of Prakriti which will be the womb in which He can sow the seed of a genre of mankind. Perhaps father a race of people who will have the right kind of Knowledge. Those who will understand that Religion is only love for mankind, people who will BE and let others BE, with tolerence, humility and compassion.
And that is what HIS music is all about. It is the seed which he sows in the wombs of our prakriti. Yours and mine. To create a better world.
Now tell me am I mad?

Ami sheta shunte chai. Oi line gulo TOMAKE ki bhabiyeche?
