I wonder how life would be without KS?
Let us assume that he will never be in the Forum. What does that leave each one of us with? What feelings does that thought evoke? Does it make any difference?
These questions have been visiting me over the last month. If they have been with you, please join me in my discovery of a world sans KS.

Are you pointing out something here ??? ( his last visit was on 15-12-06 ) . Being the forum admin, his absence will surely make a difference to me , but NOT personally .

I am just exploring the seemingly impossible world sans kabir. Simply imagining how it would be like. Till now it is still like " Kothao kono niom nei".

My personal two bits :

KS the person is like any other human being - with his distinct character traits, angularities, sensibilities, in other words, a mix of good and evil. So his actual presence in this forum hardly matters, or matters as much as the presence of any other member of this board. This forum, I believe, is concerned with the creative side of Suman. There we have his songs in the public domain - songs we can dissect, discuss, celebrate, deride! That's all that matters. At least to me.
Worshippers are of course a different species altogether!

but why just songs...his creative side also includes his writings, his hosting of shows on tv, his politics, indeed his whole personality...is it indeed possible to think of the creations and the creator separately?

you put it so well, so succintly. frankly, i never knew that this forum existed. someday, many people in this state will know that I NEVER EXISTED, HA HA! i know a person to whom a gentleman once said, "DID YOU KNOW THAT SUMAN'S SONGS WERE ACTUALLY WRITTEN BY HIS DAD?" the man is a diehard member of a very progressive political party now facing the music of a rather interesting sort because too many utterly rustic people who are too backward to think the way super-urban shopping mall loving development enthusiasts of our country do are causing a lot of undesirable racket. - i wish my baba had heard this one, but he was already dead, much to the disappointment of that progressive party man and his likes.
don't you meet people who are convinced that Tomake Chai was about a cigarette? till date (even yesterday i was forced to meet a bengali poet who mentioned the "cigarette" with regard to poor old Tomake Chai) i have met about 87878798765002345009 bengalis who were manifestly eager to enlighten me by proclaiming (with a sweet and naughty smile) that they knew for sure that the song was about a cigarette. OSCAR WILDE wrote a brilliant play : THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST. - i, the confused songwriter and scribbler and liver of a rather interesting life that, at times, even touches acting, am wont to write a play :THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING BENGALI. hey, ahladi, i hope you don't take that for a malicious statement by a man whose sensibilities are always 89806571234 times removed from reality and truth.
to put it in another way, I AM NOT IMPORTANT AT ALL. IF SOME INDIVIDUALS FIND SOME OF MY WORK INTERESTING THAT SHOULD BE ENOUGH TO BE CONSIDERED A STARTING POINT.
